Private sport fishing out of Quepos
Offshore and inshore charters from Marina Pez Vela, minutes from Manuel Antonio, operated by Costa Rica Fishing Company.
Quepos, the gateway to the Pacific
Quepos sits minutes from some of the richest fishing grounds on Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast. Nutrient-rich currents pull a remarkable range of species toward the same stretch of water, offshore and inshore, through every month of the year.
The offshore grounds — the famed Quepos Pocket among them — are known for explosive billfish action. Closer in, the rocky points and river mouths around Manuel Antonio hold their own kind of fishing entirely.
One marina. Two oceans of possibility.
Offshore — the deep blue
Run beyond the shelf and the water turns a colour you don't forget. Sailfish are here much of the year, with multiple releases on the best days. Blue and black marlin move through from December to April, while yellowfin tuna and mahi-mahi take over the warmer months.
What any single day brings depends on the season and the conditions — but the offshore grounds off Quepos are about as generous as Pacific fishing gets.
Inshore — along the coastline
The rocky points and estuaries around Quepos and Manuel Antonio are home to roosterfish, cubera snapper and jack crevalle. On lighter tackle it becomes an adventure in itself — close to shore, fast, and well suited to families and first-time anglers.
Many days mix the two: a run offshore for the morning bite, then back toward the coast to hunt the points.
Four ways to head out
The charters are operated by Costa Rica Fishing Company — a local team specialised in offshore and inshore fishing out of Quepos.
Full-Day Offshore Charter
The classic bluewater day. Long enough to reach the offshore grounds and stay on the bite — built around sailfish, marlin, yellowfin tuna and mahi-mahi when the season lines up.
3/4-Day Offshore Charter
A shorter run at the deep water for anglers who want offshore species without a full day at sea. Time on the troll, and a real shot at billfish.
Half-Day Inshore Charter
Close-to-shore action for roosterfish, snapper and jack crevalle. The easiest way in — perfect for families, beginners and anyone short on time.
3/4-Day Inshore Charter
More time to work the points and estuaries along the coast. The same inshore species, with the hours to chase them properly.
